Letter of Application

Dear Colleague,

Please consider this my application for your institution or organization. I graduated with a BFA in Theatre Design Technology from Marshall University in 1997. I earned my MFA at Southern Miss in 2003. I have been working either professionally or in academia consistently since 1992.

I feel my experiences afford me the opportunity to assume responsibilities competently in many areas of theatre production and design. While I have nearly 25 years investment, I have striven to be an educator and 'pay it forward' the opportunities my faculty gave me. I have approximately 6 years of classroom teaching experience. I have completed several workshops for course development for both traditional and on-line curriculum. As a teacher and supervisor in the production environment I have a simple philosophy: I did not get to be me by my faculty doing everything for me. I believe anyone with proper guidance and positive mentorship can achieve a level of competence and sense of personal satisfaction in anything they put their heart and minds to.

As a career academician, artists, or artisan, designer, technical director, production manager; I feel confident and qualified to take on the challenges that are described in the job posting. I am eager to demonstrate my talents and various skills within a collaborative team environment that is committed to good production values and service to the community.

On this site you will find my curriculum vitae, resume, and various letters recommendation. There are print-friendly PDF files at the bottom of most web pages. I look forward to an opportunity to speak with you and eventually to meet with you in person to discuss my qualifications. I do my best to maintain this website with examples of my most current work. You may also follow my project progress on facebook! Email me and I'll friend you. In the meantime, should you need to reach me, please feel free to call the current contact number on my resume. If I can’t answer, please leave a message and a good time to return the call. Thank you for considering my application material.

Sincerely,

Shannon R. Miller
